Large Deviations is an independent editorial project exploring the visual culture of science.
It began as an online archive: a collection of images that made us pause, look again, and ask questions. Experiments, diagrams, instruments, and unexpected fragments of scientific life.
That collection grew into articles for physical magazines and a small book. This website is the next chapter: a home for our publications, our ongoing research, and new ways of telling stories.
“Books, articles and blackboards once sparked a unique mix of mystery and curiosity.”
We are interested in that sense of wonder. In images as a way into an idea. In the places where visual research, scientific thought, and publishing meet.
